Foster families are often incredibly short on time between parent visits, therapy appointments, visits from guardian ad litems, case managers, licensing specialists, child advocates, medical appointments, therapy appointments, and just like everyone else – also taking care of their families which are often larger than most due to the shortage of foster homes in our community.
Purchasing or cooking a meal for a foster family is a huge way to help children in care by providing the caregivers with less time in the kitchen and more time with the children. Additionally, it is a great way to show these kids who are going through a trauma most of us can only imagine, that their community loves them. After all – what better way to a children’s heart than their stomach!
We are teaming up with members of the community who would like to prepare or provide a meal for a foster family once, weekly or monthly. Whether it is a home cooked casserole or takeout delivery, these families will greatly appreciate your generosity and the extra time that they get to spend with their family.
