Child Welfare Yoga: Foster Family Edition Signup Form

When: Saturday January 15 at 10am

Who: We only have space for a handful of families so please be sure you are available to come if you register. One foster parent along with up to 2 children in their home are invited. We can not accommodate more than that due to the nature of the activity. Please be sure the child(ren) that you bring will be able to focus for the activity so that you can get the most out of it and bring the tools that you learn home to your other children.

Due to the nature of the activity we are limiting each family unit to one parent and two children at the most.

More Information about Child Welfare Resilience brought to us by Brenna Vidal…

Mission
Child Welfare Resilience provides progressive and comprehensive training and education to all parties of the child welfare system in order to promote every aspect of health, strengthen dynamic relationships, and improve the overall future of the children & families involved.

Child Welfare Yoga: Foster Family Edition

Child Welfare Yoga: Foster Family Edition is trauma informed and culturally responsive yoga training that is specific to the needs of the foster families. This includes techniques that the parent or child can do on their own, as well as together to strengthen their relationship or deescalate a situation.

Child Welfare Yoga practice will train a skill set that:

  1. Builds a sense of agency, reinforcing self-worth and confidence.
  2. Create new neural pathways, to regulate the body and strengthen the mind – improving concentration, retain information retention, and the ablity to process stress.
  3. Regulate emotions through meditation, movement, and breathing techniques to help calm the system and build emotional resilience.
  4. And more….

Child Welfare Yoga: Foster Family Edition – Hosted by Caterpillars to Butterflies

Join Caterpillars to Butterflies as they host Child Welfare Resilience, for a collaboration that provides a safe space for foster families to build resilience in all aspects of health and wellness, strengthen dynamic relationships, and improve the overall journey through the child welfare system.

Child Welfare Yoga: Foster Family Edition is a 60-minute in-person (and live-streamed?) monthly class with Brenna Vidal, Founder of Child Welfare Resilience. Classes are the third Saturday of every month at 10:00am starting January 15th. Attendance is limited to 6 foster parents and 2 children per parent.

This practice is recommended for children who can stay focused on one task for a 60 minute time frame with brief and limited redirection. Even high-energy 3-year-olds might be fascinated enough to slow down and give yoga a go. Families are always encouraged to give it a try and have patience if their first class does not go as planned.

Absolutely no previous experience is needed and will provide modifications for poses and props to meet ALL body needs. Yoga mats will be provided and comfortable attire is recommended. If you or your child have any limitations, questions, or concerns, consult Brenna Vidal before beginning the following practice. Adaptations and modifications may be made.

Whether it be time and energy, tangible items, or monetary donations, we are grateful for every contribution. Our thanks are best expressed as the smiles and laughter of the children that benefit from your gifts.
